Backlighting
This technique requires strong lights behind the subject and a soft light in front of them. A reflector can also be used to provide a fill light. However, not using one can create a silhouette effect. This dramatizes images which can cause emotions to build around images.
I am interested in this technique as I would like to create emotions around the subjects of my images and express their characteristics.
Setup:
Results:
When I use this lighting technique, I will use a reflector as I feel that having silhouettes of my images does not have any meaning in my project. I like the surrounding light and would like to try using that in my own work. The quality of these images are really good and the bright lighting does not completely wash out the subject which I would really like to do. This will most likely look very different with the white background and it might not work as well but I am interested to see what happens and how it will turn out.

My Results:
I did not like the images to start with as I struggled to use a reflector. However, when I got the reflector right, I think the effect it had on my images was really useful. I like how in time I was able to make the lighting so that the background almost matched the surface which allowed the subjects of my images to stand out more. When considering how I am going to continue my shoots, I am most likely going to use this lighting prominently for action figures as it dramatizes their images which is what I want as it reflects their character.
